Q: What do I need to use Mpower?
A:

You need a cable connection or antenna and a Broadband Internet connection. The Mpower Box simply plugs in, as easy as connecting up a phone or your cable box to your TV.

Q: Do my Internet and cable providers need to be the same?
A:

No. Our technology works even if your Internet and cable providers are not the same.

Q: How easy is it to use Mpower?
A:

Mpower is simple to use. The Mpower Box arrives with a family-safe setting in place or you can set personal profiles for each family member. Simply plug it in and follow the on-screen wizard and in minutes all your TV and Internet content will be Mpowered. No software to download or maintain. No complicated set up. It’s automatic and easy to use.

Q: How do I connect it?
A:

The Mpower Box needs to be hooked up to your cable connection and to your Broadband Internet connection.  No downloads, no software, no maintenance.

Q: How easy is it to update my personal profile?
A:

Easy! You can change your settings anytime, right on your TV screen. Simply use your 4-digit pin code to access your profile. In less than a minute you can change any setting on your profile.

Q: Does my personal profile remain confidential?
A:

Yes. Your personal profile is kept private and never shared.

Q: How many profiles can I set up?
A:

You can create as many profiles as you choose, so that each family member has his or her own profile. You may also want to set up a profile for “family” viewing, which would include content choices appropriate for those times when you all want to watch TV together. If you prefer, you may also simply choose our pre-set family –safe profile, which is ready to go when your Mpower Box arrives. This default setting provides maximum protection and needs no further personalization in order to work. It’s really up to you and what works best for your own family. You decide. That’s the beauty of Mpower! You are always in control. Remember, you can always adjust the settings whenever you want, just by using your 4-digit pin code.

Q: Does Mpower work in every TV set in my house?
A:

You will need one Mpower Box for every TV in your home. A single Mpower Box, however, does cover all the computers in your home, including the Internet browser on your home gaming system (like Xbox 360), and even a friend’s computer that is running off your home Wi-fi.

Q: Does Mpower work in every computer in my house?
A:

Mpower works on any computer that is using your Broadband Internet connection, whether it is a Mac, PC, desktop or laptop. They all work with Mpower. (No software to download, remember?).

Q: Will my laptop be protected from unwanted content?
A:

Any laptop brought into your home and which is connecting through your home Wi-fi is protected from unwanted content.

Q: When I turn the TV on, is Mpower on?
A:

Yes, once you have completed the initial set-up (which takes minutes), your Mpower technology is always working for you. No need to “start” Mpower when you turn on your TV or power up your computer. It is automatically working, every time, as soon as your initial set up is complete. But remember that, if you desire, you may use your pin code, access your profile, and turn off the Mpower Internet filter. This allows you to browse the Internet freely, without restriction. With Mpower, you decide!

Q: Will my kids be able to get around Mpower's controls and settings?
A:

The system is designed to alert parents or administrators whenever attempts to disable or bypass the Mpower protections that you have chosen are detected.

Q: Can I set up TV time limits for my children?
A:

You may select time limits, by time of day, for their Internet usage. You may access this feature through our Internet portal, at www.mympowerbox.com

Q: Can I watch live TV?
A:

Yes. You can always watch live TV. As with any DVR, you may also record, pause, fast forward or rewind your program. For Mpowered viewing, according to your personal profile, however, your programs will be delivered and enjoyed on a time-shifted basis. This means that even though a program is aired at 8 p.m. EST (for example), you may not be able to access it through the Mpower system until about 8:30. This delay is to ensure a seamless and smooth viewing experience as our technology matches your content settings to the program data.

Q: Does my personal profile apply to every TV program that’s available from my cable company?
A:

No, it does not. Mpower covers the most popular shows that America is watching. We also record a selection of programs appropriate for different age groups and interests. All these programs will be available to you, assuming they match your personal content settings. However, our Mpower team does not cover (or “apply” our technology to) every single show that is available in your cable subscription. Most families watch the same ten or 12 channels and programs repeatedly. You can be sure that we will be covering the most popular programs - and most likely you will be able to view all your favorite shows, “Mpowered.”

Q: Does Mpower skip offensive commercials?
A:

Absolutely, depending on your personal profile. When you set up your profile, your content choices apply to any “Mpowered” content, including commercials in a covered program. However, Mpower also gives its users the option to view programs that are not covered by Mpower, but which have been given a general content rating. These programs are not “cleaned” but they fit a general content category (mild, moderate, or strong content). For these programs only, the commercials will not be skipped according to your content labels. (This is because the programs themselves are not “covered” shows.) You will see clear reminders when a show is available to you in “program” mode, rather than cleaned mode, so you can be aware when commercials are not Mpowered. Remember, like any DVR, Mpower also lets you pre-record programs so you can skip all the commercials.

Q: How many hours of TV programs or movies can I record?
A:

You can save up to 40 hours of programming on High Definition and up to 400 hours on Standard Definition. But you can also add an external drive to increase your storage capacity-and record many more hours of enjoyable programming.

Q: How long will my recordings be stored?
A:

For as long as you want. You can decide to erase stored content whenever you choose or if your storage space is getting low. You can always see on your screen how much free space you have available. When it gets low, you decide which programs to erase.

Q: How does Mpower change my TV experience?
A:

With Mpower, you know that you are in control of your TV and Internet experience. You can enjoy real peace of mind, confident that your children will only see the content you want them to see, even when you are not home. Mpower is indeed "worry-free TV and Internet."

Q: Does it work with FiOS?
A:

Yes, it works with FiOS and you will no longer need your cable company's box. While it’s true that using the FIOS set top box requires their router, FCC rules require that you be able to return cable system set top boxes (avoiding their monthly rental fee) and still view video programming. Mpower’s set top box is a Digital Cable Ready (DCR) device that decrypts broadcast channels using a CableCARD, which Verizon will rent for what their web site calls a low monthly fee.
